Bernie Siegel, M.D. is the author of Love, Medicine and Miracles and Peace Love and Healing. A dynamic crusader of holistic medicine; we welcomed his knowledge and personal experiences to the set of A Different Perspective. Dr. Siegel, along with his wife Betty, has created cancer support groups around the world. He is a well known and respected lecturer. "A beautiful blend of science and metaphysics... I’m so appreciative of his sharing the angel experiences with us. An extra special man!"  says Rhonda.

Excerpt from interview.....

Rhonda Anderson --- "Is that an angel pin on your jacket"?

Bernie --- "There is a lot of story behind this pin in terms of the first one we received was from Robert Young; some of the things we had done had helped him…………….but recently I don't know if it came out of my own head or if I read it somewhere ……..you know I don't know anymore. (smiling, he continues ) I was in heaven at a meeting I saw an angel with one wing and I said "you are an angel why don't you get repaired?"

He said "but I don't have any trouble flying." I said "How can you fly with one wing you would go flopping in circles?" He said "oh yeah watch this!" He walked over to another angel with one wing they put their arms around each other and they flew off with no trouble.

Rhonda --- "Oh, I like that story, that is nice! I also love the story."

Bernie (interjecting) --- "And it is a true story!"

Rhonda --- "I believe! I believe you."

Bernie --- "Alright"

Rhonda --- "Because you have talked about your guide George."

Bernie --- "yeah, yeah."

Rhonda --- "Will you share that with us?"

Bernie---"Yeah, I don't mind, I write less about that because it is so much a part of my life. The first time I was asked to do imagery I was at a weekend workshop, the person leading it said "I will now take you through guided imagery" and I thought "this is crazy so I won't close my eyes" but I was in the front row and the physician named Simonton leading the workshop was looking straight at me so I thought Ooh I can't just sit here so I closed my eyes. I did not have the courage you see. .now when I lead workshops and someone sits and stares back at me I think there is a powerful person. But I went "oops I will close my eyes and he will not know I am not doing it." As a painter I'm very visual and the visions started coming and along came this fellow George….incredible….umm and not something I asked for nor expected. I mean it was just this totally spontaneous thing. It impressed me because of the knowledge he had, the help he gave me and as years began to go by I began to do this with my patients. I experienced it is real, it works let's use it! The thing I didn't realize is when you are sitting in a group of people you have a choice of who hears your stories but when you put it in a book you don't have a choice of who reads the book. A lot of people might think "ooh, he is nuts, isn't that crazy?" I don't mean to say I'm more guarded now but if I feel something is appropriate to write about or say I do so and I do not worry about the audience.

This is my life it is my experience but I realize how you write it and how you share becomes important depending on the audience

Rhonda---"But "George" your guide is with you everyday, right?"

Bernie---"Yeah, oh yeah I have so many people around me now that I don't really talk about them. They include people who I have worked with who have died and also deceased family members of patients who want to help by guiding me so I call on them regularly. It is apart of my life, every morning I know that's a part of my daily meditation , prayer, to be with them.

Rhonda---" I relate to what you are saying because I talk to my "George's'" as well, my guides."

Bernie---"I think we all have them."

Rhonda---"Well, I certainly think so, it is a matter of allowing yourself to be open to help from other realms. If you are open and receptive the help is there, it's that simple."

Bernie---"Again if you say that is a little crazy or a mystery or a miracle…well…but if it works? You see I'm a practical person as a physician and a surgeon and if something successful then why deny it!"

Rhonda---"Exactly!"

Bernie---"I saw that in the hospital too. If I gave a lecture on it they might get upset with the lecture because it did not make sense. They are not sure it is scientific, nobody taught them that. But if I went my own way in the hospital doing it and it worked then everybody would join in and do it as well because they are not against success. I saw this with the nurses and the physicians' so the hospital would looked very different ten years later. When new people came in, I use to laugh because they would say "Why do you do it this way?" Nurses and physicians would simply answer " it is our policy." They would never say Bernie Siegal said , or we were taught this way, it was always "I don't know it's is just the way we do things around here. Why? Because it works! Many patients would come to me and say "It's wonderful here, I didn't have to take my clothes off or put on a Johnny coat. You have music in the operating room and I love the way people talk to me on the way to and in the operating room. People in the hospital saw this worked and the patients had less complications and left the hospital sooner . So, it works so let's do it!
